Raphael Gutzke received the history department's 12th Annual Student of the Year Award in the Spring 2025 semester, at a banquet held at the Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown Museum. Congratulations on this honor!
Dr. Tina Kibbe, assistant professor, was named one of three recipients of the ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ Merit Award for 2024. The award recognizes junior faculty for their outstanding teaching.
Dr. Jeff Forret was named 2023 University Professor. The designation has honored one distinguished senior faculty member every year since 1972. It was known as the Regents' Professorship from 1972 to 1995. Previous winners from the history department were Ralph Wooster (1972), L. Wesley Norton (1980), Paul Isaac (1981), Naaman J. Woodland, Jr. (1989), John Storey (1990), John Carroll (1991), and Ronald H. Fritze (1996).
ÂÒÂ×ÊÓÆµ has named senior history major Brittni Silva as its January First Generation Student of the Month, recognizing her perseverance, academic achievement and commitment to becoming an educator as a first-generation college student.
