ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ has named Alyssa Bergeron, a senior University Studies major from Port Neches, as its First-Generation Student of the Month.
Bergeron, who will be the first in her family to earn a college degree, said her journey represents more than personal success. As a first-generation student, she hopes to inspire her children and others to pursue higher education and embrace new opportunities.
“I am first generation proud because I am breaking new ground for my family and creating opportunities that did not exist before,” Bergeron said. “Being the first to attend and succeed in college shows my children that hard work, dedication and faith can open doors. My journey is not just for me; it is building a stronger future for the generations that come after me.”
The First-Generation Student of the Month recognition highlights ÂÒÂ×ÊÓƵ students who demonstrate perseverance, leadership and academic dedication while navigating college without a family history of higher education.
